Carrigan is 1 month!

Carrigan you are 1 month old! You weighed 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long last week at your Dr's appointment. You are eating every 3-4 hours and are sleeping really good at night. You are very laid back and mellow like your dad. You are staying awake more now during the day. You are so happy in the morning and it is so easy to get a smile from you then. I think you are going to be a morning person like your mom and your Noah! You love your brothers and like to look for them when you hear their voices. You are the sweetest baby and we have already forgotten what life was like without you. We love you and are enjoying every moment with you!

Plans can change!

I have found over the last week that no matter how hard I try to plan how I would like things to go God teaches me that He makes the plans. Our baby girl was scheduled to arrive on August 17th but after a rather hurried entrance she arrived on August 13! After several days of not feeling Carrigan move as much as the days before, I made a trip to see my Dr. I had two days of Non Stress Tests and found that Carrigan was not tolerating my contractions and my induction was moved up to to the 13th. I was sent from my appointment to the hospital and within 3o minutes my planned induction was changed to an unplanned C-section. The nurses was moving around quickly but I tried not to get to worried. My husband got to the hospital and we were moved very quickly to the operating room and within minutes I was prepped and Carrigan was delivered at 11:59 am. She weighed 5 lbs and 14 oz. She had a very weak cry and her color was terrible. The doctor told us he was going to take her to the NICU for some oxygen and fluids. I was taken to my room and only got a very brief look at her. After a couple of hours, Mike called the NICU to find out how she was doing. We were told she neeeded a blood tranfusion. Her blood level in her body was extremely low. Over the next four days, Carrigan remained in the NICU. She had tubes, oxygen, and two tranfusions. She continued to improve and pass the milestones that the doctors set for her. We were finally discharged on Tuesday and we were told that I had a placental abruption that caused Carrigan to lose blood very slowly over a fews weeks. I had no symptoms of the abruption. Thank God for a mother's intuition. After talking with several of our NICU nurses, we found out that we came as close to losing our precious baby girl as we could. I know that my God wrapped His hands of protection around Carrigan and for this I am so grateful!

We have been home for 3 days now and she is doing great! We have been told to stay home for several weeks and keep her away from crowds. She is the sweetest baby. She is mellow and hardly ever cries. I know that this could change any day but we are enjoying her so much. We are a blessed family and we thank God saving her sweet life.

Things are changing!

Things are changing in the Baker house. If can't tell, we are expecting a baby girl! Carrigan is due to arrive anyday between now and August 17th. I am ready and excited! It is terribly hot in the great south right now and that adds to me being beyond ready. I am officially a full time stay at home --homeschooling mom. Hopefully that will help me be a better blogger also.

Noah is now a home schooled 2nd grader!

Grayson is in K-4 and home schooled when he is not in preschool!

Mike is in is LAST year of seminary. He should graduate with his PhD in May 2011!!

I will try to do better and have a picture of our new family before Carrigan is in school! We have had a wonderful summer but looking forward to cooler weather and the changes that a little girl in our house will bring. God has been so good to the Baker Family!

Busy Birthday and Easter Weekend!

Just a few pictures from our busy weekend. We celebrated N's 6th birthday and also the resurrection of our Savior. Several of us went in together and bought the boys a playground for the backyard for their birthdays. Mike did a great job putting it together and had lots of help from the boys. Saturday morning we took the boys to the Easter Egg hunt at Buckhead--we had beautiful weather. It was a special time because GiGi and Poppy got to go with us. On Saturday night we took N to Shogun's for his birthday dinner and we had a great time all together. N was a little disappointed that we weren't going to Pump it Up but afterward he told me he had a good time and we should go back every year for his birthday. He is such a funny boy! We had a fantastic weekend with our family and a wonderful celebration on Sunday morning at our church. We were so glad that GiGi, Poppy, Jami, Greg, Granny, and Pa were all able to come and celebrate N's birthday. We are blessed to be close to our family so they can share in all the fun! I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Just an Update

Just a quick update from the Baker house. I had hoped I would be better at blogging but it has proven to be hard to actually find time to sit down and type out all the things that are happening in our family.

Mike has started his second semester in the PhD program. He is doing very well. He earned 2 A's for his first semester and I am very proud of him. He is loving the classes he is taking. Church is also going very well. He is gearing up for another very busy summer full of camps and mission trip.

N is doing great in school. He is reading and improving every week. He is also doing very well in math. I am really proud of him! I am very happy God is providing a way for us to send him to private school. He is learning so much and really loves going. Last week I registered him for 1st grade. I can't believe he is almost 6. Where did the time go?

G is keeping us on our toes. I have so many stories that I could write a book! I think I going to be busy with him. He is really doing good. Preschool is going good and he really loves going even though he always says he doesn't want to go. He is learning his letters, colors, and numbers. His teacher is also teaching him to recognize his name. He is changing so much and growing like a weed.

My job at church is keeping me very busy; some weeks busier than I would like, but I am grateful for the job that God has provided for me so I can help out our family. I am really looking forward to the summer and the time I will have with my boys. We have lots of trips planned and lots of playing to do. Have a great weekend!

Christmas Home Tour

First I want to apologize for not posting in a month, but December is a crazy month for us. I will post more December pictures later today.

I have seen several blogs that have posted pictures of their homes decorated for Christmas and I wanted to jump on the bandwagon.

This is our beautiful tree. This was my mom's tree, but we switched trees when I moved into a house from an apartment and she moved from a house to an apartment. I love the simple decorations and it is quick to decorate.

These are my favorite ornaments. They are my two boys handprints that they made at preschool last year. I love them so much that I keep them out all year.

Here is our mantle and stockings. My aunt made our stockings and I love how they look on our fireplace mantle.

An last but not least. This is my nativity. The pieces to this I have been given over the last few years and I am still missing a few pieces but it is a reminder to me and my family what the true meaning of Christmas. Each year my boys and I talk about the important part of Christmas and each year they remember that it is Jesus' birthday. I hope as you look at my simple reminder that you too will remember the important part of Christmas. Merry Christmas from the Bakers!!
